KARA's Kang Ji-Young drops new single "Lucid Dream"

Former KARA member Kang Ji-young made a solo comeback with her single titled “Lucid Dream” on July 7.

Kang Ji-young is best known as a member of the K-pop girl group KARA. Alongside Go Hara, Ji-young joined the group in 2008 after Kim Sung-hee’s departure. She was only 14 years old at the time. Ji-young left KARA in 2014, after her contract, expired to focus on her acting career.

After her departure, Ji-young starred in many popular shows like “Assassination Classroom” and “Tokyo Ghoul S.” She also launched her solo music career in 2016 with the single “Radio.” In February, she announced her departure from her agency KeyEast. Ji-young signed with ELRIS Entertainment in April of this year. “Lucid Dream” is her first single under this label.

The hype leading up to the single’s release started with Ji-young uploading her first YouTube video on June 28. The video was endearing and showcased her sweet personality.

After launching her channel, Ji-young dropped two teasers for her comeback, the first one on July 4 and the second on July 5.

Like the name, the sultry yet ethereal feel to the track is reminiscent of a lucid dream. The music video is colored in light blues and purples with each scene seamlessly fading into each other. The overall dreamy aesthetic makes this song a perfect plus one to your Spotify “chill” playlist. If you haven’t given it a listen yet, check out the full video below!
